2nd Lt Paul R. Parent attended college for 1 year before he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in San Francisco, California on 20 October 1941.

According to a crew member of another plane in de formation it was on fire from the engine to the rear of the plane.

Seven crew members survived and were taken prisoner, three were killed.

According to Lt Koch, a surviving crew member, Lt Parent bailed out near Klagenfurt and probably was lost in the mountains and froze to death."
