Pvt Robert E. Hurley was a graduate of St. Vincent's Institute and had attended St. Bonaventure College for one year.

He enlisted in Albany, New York on 1 September 1943.

His tank No. D16 was knocked out by direct fire, killing the entire crew. Two more crew members are buried at Henri-Chapelle: Pfc John C. Hutchinson and James E. Sheppard.
