More information

Clarence Allstot did different jobs around his home town, but never had full time employment.

On 10 November 1942, he was married to Anna Mae Franklin. They never had any children because Clarence left for the war about two days later. Before Clarence left for the military, he told one of his friends that he knew he would have been drafted if he hadn’t enlisted. He also told his friend that because of the severity of the war, he knew he would not be coming back to South Dakota alive.

He was killed in action when the tank of which he was a crew member, was hit.

He was initially buried at the cemetery of the 15th Scottish Infantry Division in Liessel, The Netherlands. He was disinterred on 17 July 1945 and transported to Margraten, where he was first buried in a temporary grave. He was again disinterred on 12 August 1948 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 21 September 1948. Finally on 29 April 1949, he was given his final resting place.
