More information

2nd Lt Henry H. Meyer graduated from Neosho High School and Joplin Junior College.

He enlisted on 8 February 1943 and was commissioned a second lieutenant at Blackland Field in Waco, Texas on 5 December 1943.

Returning crews of 492nd reported that 0928, near IP, the fighter escort was drawn off to protect another formation. Then 60 to 80 FW-190's hit our low rear squadron, continuing the attack until all were put out of action. Meanwhile, our lead squadron was fighting off other attacks. Although various 492nd planes were seen to go down and chutes open, individual A/C could not be identified.
