Pfc Walter A. Modzel attended Benjamin Franklin High School.He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 24 November 1941 and joined the paratroopers in 1943. He was sent overseas in May 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
