Pfc Donald C. Murray graduated from Milton High School and was employed by the American Car and Foundry Company.

He enlisted on 27 November 1942 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio.
