Sgt William F. Strohmeier enlisted in Rochester, New York on 16 June 1943.

He was a graduate of Aquinas Institute and employed by Stromberg-Carlson Company. When he enlisted he was a student at Ohio State University. He attended the University of Dayton under the Army Student Training Program and was transferred to the Infantry when the program was abandoned. He went overseas in September 1944.

He was killed near the high ground near Lindern-Linnich Road.
