1st Lt Miles S. King attended the University of North Carolina.He joined the Army Air Corps in February 1943 and was sent overseas in Septembe 1944.
The plane was hit by flak. It is believed that they received a direct hit in the cockpit area. Nothing was said over the intercom. The plane went into an immediate spin upon their second hit.
Eight crew members were killed, two men were taken prisoner.
