1st Lt Daniel F. Dorman had alreday served with the Regular Army in Panama. He was discharged but soon joined the National Guard on 17 February 1941. He then volunteered for the Paratroopers.He participated in the D-Day landings in Normandy after which he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant.
During a heavy German counter-attack, aimed to conquer the local railway station, Lt Dorman was reported wounded in action. He was transported to the First Aid Station at Zetten, where he died the next day.
1st Lt Dorman was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, The Netherlands.
