Pfc Joseph Nedza attended South High School.

He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 12 February 1943.

Pfc Nedza was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for wiping out an enemy machine gun nest single-handed. He lost his life in the action.

Pfc Nedza was initially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, The Netherlands on 23 September 1944.

His twin brother, Pfc Edward Nedza, was killed in action in New Guinea on 27 May 1944. He is buried at the American Military Cemetery in Manila.

At the time of his death, his brother Jacob served with the Army Air Corps in Belgium.
