2nd Lt James P. Duke was reported wounded in action in the area of Overasselt, The Netherlands. He died of his wounds in the hospital of Evere, Belgium.His backpack and prayer book were found on the steps of the town hall by a Mr. Weems. Mr. Weems named his son James Paul Weems. he and his son connected with his family and visited them in Maryland some years later.
