Pvt John C. Lebednick graduated from Moody Junior High School and Lowell Trade School and was employed at the Megowen Educator Company.He enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 27 May 1943 and was sent overseas in December 1943.
Five monts after he was reported missing in action in Belgium, Pvt John C. Lebednick was listed as killed in action, according to a war department telegram, received by his grand uncle, Michael Dirsa.
