1st Lt Mitchell P. Snow attended college and was a sales agent before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the U.S. Army in Baltimore, Maryland, on 31 March 1942.

The Fighter Group was on a strafe mission in the vicinity of Salzwedel, Germany, which resulted in destroying and damaging a large number of enemy aircraft, buildings, locomotives, and other infrastructure. For this action, the Group was awarded a Distinguished Unit citation.

When returning home, the Group was attacked by enemy fighters. Lt Snow was killed in a head-on crash with an enemy Ne-109 in the vicinity of Hermannsburg.
