1st Lt Edward A. Taylor graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1936 and attended New York University. He was employed at the Chemical Bank & Trust of New York City.

He enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 14 January 1941. He was stationed for 30 months in England before he was sent into combat in December 1944. While stationed in England he was married to Larrane Allen and the couple had a son.
