Pfc Addie F. Sides worked at the Cannon Mills textile manufacturing plant before he enlisted at Fort Jackson, South Carolina on 16 February 1942. He was sent overseas in January 1944.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand Failly, France.
