T/5 Harvey B. Peterson was employed by the Ford Motor Company before he enlisted in Marquette, Michigan on 19 March 1942. He was sent overseas in November 1943.

He was struck by a fragment of an artillery shell which exploded in the trees directly over the vehicle he was driving. He was instantly killed.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand Failly, France.
