T/Sgt William C. Layman graduated from University High School.He enlisted in Los Angeles, California, on 9 February 1943. A mortar shell exploded in a tree and a hunk of shrapnel killed the platoon sergeant.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand Failly, France.
