More information
Pfc Russell H. Hutton enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 19 July 1944.He was killed while fighting with Patton's Third Army. He had shared a foxhole with a near neighbor from Kenmore, Pfc Don Johnson, whose parents heard from him, but Johnson made no mention of his buddy's death.
Pfc Hutton went overseas on New Year's day and his unit had already received the Presidential Citation for bravery. In a last letter home, the Kenmore high school graduate, a talented musician, had been full of plans for the future. He had planned on continuing his musical career and on attending Baldwin-Wallace College.
