1st Lt. Armand J. Serrabella attended Bayport High School where he was one of the outstanding basketball players and was a sales agent. He later became a tennis professional and during the winters served as "pro" at the Indian Creek Club at Miami Beach. During the summer, he operated the courts on the South Road in Blue Point.

He enlisted at Fort Jay, New York on 8 April 1942. He was assigned to Company B of the 15th Battalion at Fort Bennington, Georgia, where he attended the Officer's Candidate School. He was sent overseas in October 1944.

He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal twice for wounds, sustained in Germany and the Silver Star Medal for bravery under fire while giving orders to his men in making a surprise attack on an enemy position. The mission was accomplished and German 44 S.S. troops were taken prisoner and four were killed.

1st Lt Armand Serrabella was killed by sniper fire and he was first buried at the Temporary American Cemetery of Ittenbach, Germany.
