Pfc Emil L. Adler was killed in action a short time after he returned to his outfit after recovering from wounds, sustained in October 1944.

He is remembered at the historic Brown Park, a South Omaha ballfield, where he played in the 1930s and 1940s. The plaque, lists 40 names of Omaha amateur baseball players.
