More information
1st Lt Robert M. Woods was a bookkeeper before he joined the Regular Army in Detroit, Michigan, on 25 July 1942.2nd Lt Millard J. Elfberg:
"I was following Lt Woods down on a dive-bombing run about 1,000 feet behind and slightly to the right. I observed Lt Woods make a turn to the right, at about 1,000 feet, and keep turning until he had made almost 180 degrees turn before the plane struck the ground. The plane exploded on contact with the ground. I saw no hits or smoke from his plane as it turned in front of me."
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Limey, France.
