2nd Lt Edgar H. Grantham graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1939 and attended college.He was an electrician before he joined the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Miami Beach, Florida on 1 February 1943.
The airplane received a direct hit by flak in the bomb bay. The bombs were immediately released, and the aircraft caught fire. It dived to 18,000 feet, leveled off, and was lost out of sight.
Two crew members were taken prisoner, and seven men were killed.
This was his second mission.
