More information

Cpl Doyle G. Sumner enlisted in Little Rock, Arkansas on 3 June 1943.

2nd Lt Delmar L. Brinkman:
“On route to the target, I noticed that the plane flying number 7 position in B box was having trouble staying with the formation. He jettisoned two bombs in an effort to keep up with the formation. As I was looking out of the window a few minutes after he jettisoned the bombs, I noticed his ship stall and start falling back. As he fell back, he collided with the ship piloted by Lt Pooley of the 829th bombardment squadron, which had fallen back.”
