T/4 Victor P. Scattone enlisted in Jamaica, New York on 13 March 1941.

He is remembered on Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York.

His brother, Cpl Vincent Scattonne, age 19, was on board the Liberty ship SS Paul Hamilton when it was torpedoed by Ju 88 bombers off the coast of Cape Bengut near Algiers in the Mediterranean Sea on 20 April 1944. He is remembered on the Walls of the Missing at North Africa American Cemetery in Tunisia.
