S/Sgt Clifford M. Michael attended high school for four years and was a mith, and sheet metal worker before he enlisted in Huntington, Virginia on 22 October 1941.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his face.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.
