Sgt Stancil L. Maddox attended Jackson High School for four years and was a bookkeeper for the Dinkins and Davidson Hardware Company in Atlanta before he enlisted at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 11 February 1943. He was sent overseas in October 1944.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
