More information

Pfc Henry L. Hanauer arrived in the U.S. in 1936, together with his sister Elizabeth as Hebrew students and stayed with their uncle Adolf Hanauer in New Brunswick, New York. Their father and mother arrived in 1937.

He was employed by the United American Metal Corporation before he enlisted on 22 January 1943.

On 23 April 1943 he was naturalized at Fort McClellan, Alabama.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for his actions on the day of his death.
