More information

T/Sgt Lynn M. Farnham volunteered for the Army of the United States in Syracuse, New York on 15 September 1942.

2nd Lt Louis E. Gregoire:
“I was flying as bombardier in aircraft B-17 31479. While on the bomb run, I noticed a B-17, number 42-31797, turning to the right in the direction of the east side of Regensburg. The airplane, with one engine smoking and losing altitude probably at the rate of 1,000 feet per minute, dropped its bombs on the city of Regensburg. At this last sighting of 797 it was apparently under control. No parachutes were seen coming from the plane.”

2nd Lt John E. Mahan:
"Last seen by pilot before bailing out behind co-pilot's seat. He claims he was wounded in stomach or legs.”

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced he was accounted for 31 July 2024. Further information will follow (information added October 2024).
