More information

2nd Lt John C. Sullivan graduated fromMassena High School and was a student at Clarkson College of Technology.

He enlisted in February 1942 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in April 1943. He was sent overseas in February 1945.

Statement:
"At about 1800 hrs, 21 March 1945, I was leading a flight over Germany, grid F9872. Lt Sullivan was flying my wing. I took him in on some vehicles on a road. I strafed the vehicles and pulled up to watch Sullivan's run. He was overshooting one of the vehicles, and as he stopped firing, his left wing hit the ground. The plane turned over on its side and cartwheeled along the field next to the road the vehicles were on. His plane broke apart into several pieces. Considering the speed his plane was going, it is very doubtful whether or not he survived."

He had completed seven missions.

His brother, Sgt George Sullivan, was stationed in Northern France.
