2nd Lt John C. McClure graduated from Memphis High School and attended Texas Tech University. He was employed by the Honolulu Oil Company in the geological department.He enlisted on 22 April 1941 in the Regular Army in Dallas, Texas and was sent overseas in September 1944.
Lt McClure was lost over enemy territory on a ferry flight over France, due to poor navigation. His last known location was 2 miles west of Strassbourg.
