Sgt Mack N. Corbitt was a farmhand before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Peoria, Illinois on 13 February 1942.

From 19 May 1944 to October 1944 he was hospitalized in Italy for broken fingers at his left hand, caused by a falling object.

He was killed when his tank was hit by an enemy 150 mm shell.
