S/Sgt Harold R. Shurtliff graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah and was employed at the Bennett’s Glass and Paint Company as a commercial artist.

He enlisted at Fort Douglas, Utah on 3 June 1942 and went overseas in November 1944.
