Sgt Harry S. Bloom attended high school for 4 years and was a routeman before he enlisted in Trenton, New Jersey on 24 February 1941.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Solers, France.
