Robert A. Pegues attended college for one year.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in San Antonio, Texas on 10 November 1942.

The aircraft was seen to receive a direct hit before reaching the target. The gasoline tank in the left wing and the engine burst into flames. Bombs were salvoed and the aircraft turned off to the left and went into a slow spin. It was seen to crash and explode and no parachutes were seen.

The entire crew of six men was killed.
