Cpl Richard T. Metz attended high school for four years and worked in a machine shop.

He enlisted in Utica, New York on 28 May 1943.
He was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schophoven, Germany on 17 December 1944 and died in Stalag IV-B of dysentery.
