T/4 Thomas M. Kernan was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and was employed by the Mohian Market and later by Wickwire Brothers Inc.He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 27 August 1941. He received his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and before going overseas was on maneuvers in California.
He left behind his wife Ruth and infant daughter Vicki Louise, whom he had never seen.
