Capt Duane H. Callister graduated from Millard High School and the University of Utah. He received his doctor’s degree at Rush College, Chicago. He interned at the L. D. S. Hospital and volunteered for Army of the United States in the Medical Corps in August 1943.Capt Callister was seriously wounded in action in the back while attempting to go forward to the aid of a wounded German. He was hit by enemy mortar fire.
He is remembered at the Holden Cemetery in Holden, Millard County, Utah.
