Pfc Joseph J. Lontirie was employed as an operator by the Independent Coat Shop.He joined the Regular Army in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 26 July 1940. He participated in the invasions of North Africa and France.
He was reported wounded in action in Africa in November 1942 and in Sicily in July 1943.
Both his parents were born in Italy.
