1st Lt Paul B. Zuydhoek attended college for one year and worked as the organist of Christ Church in South Amboy.His paternal grandparents called Holland home and his maternal grandparents lived in Ireland prior to moving to America. His parents were both born in this country. Paul spent some time in Europe during the early 1930s as a tourist.
He enlisted in Trenton, New Jersey on 24 June 1941.
He was killed by German mortar fire while trying to reach his position as a forward observer to support the attack of 18th Infantry Regiment of 1st Infantry Division.
