Pvt Rudy Esquibel was reported wounded in action on 4 July 1944. His arm was lacerated by schrapnel fragments from an artillery shell. His recovery took 32 days, after which he was he rejoined his unit.

He was killed in action after he stepped on a mine.

His brother Robert was also killed in action. His brother Mike also served in WWII and got wounded but survived.
