Pfc John E. Struble graduated from DeVilbiss High School and attended college for 2 years.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Camp Perry Lacarne, Ohio on 2 December 1942. He trained at Fort Benning, North Carolina before he was sent overseas in January 1944.

Pfc Struble was initially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek on 4 November 1944. When this cemetery was closed, his remains were transferred to Margraten.
