Pfc George W. Davis attended Technical High School.

He enlisted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 25 March 1943 and was sent overseas in December 1943.

He was wounded in action on 8 June 1944 in Normandy for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. He returned to his unit after recovering in a hospital for six weeks.

His brother, Pvt Edmund L. Davis, is buried at the American Military Cemetery of Cambridge, Great Britain.

His brother Ellsworth served with the U.S. Navy and Joseph was stationed in Egypt.
