Pfc John D. Thompson attended high school for four years and worked on a farm before he enlisted at Camp Dodge, Iowa on 6 January 1943.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand Failly, France.
He is remembered at the Kirk Cemetery in Worth County, Missouri.
