Pfc Howard J. Shaw attended high school for two years and worked at the Vultee Aircraft Company before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Detroit, Michigan on 19 November 1942.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand Failly, France.
