Pvt Wilfred A. Paul was employed at the Grand Central Market before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 14 March 1944. He received his training at Fort Meade, Maryland, Fort McClellan, Alabama and Fort Jackson, South Carolina, before going overseas in October 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
