More information

Bernard A. Tuckey attended college and was a hotel manager.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in New York City, New York.

Statement of 1st Lt Elmer G. Dendle, who flew in the same mission: “I was flying Molecoat Green 3 on the combat mission of 20 March 1944. We took off usual and climbed as a section with Lt Tuckey on Capt Porter's port wing and myself on his starboard wing and Lt Bell flying my wing. We climbed to about 6,000 feet and Maj Montgomery called and said we would make a right turn to 'on course' and then get squared away and go through the overcast. We had just started up through the overcast in the afore-mentioned position, and Lt Tuckey seemed to drop down out of the overcast. That was the last I heard or saw of him. We continued on up through the overcast without seeing him again."

Tuckey's body floated ashore at Westkapelle, The Netherlands on 7 May 1944. He was probably drowned. He was initially buried at the cemetery of Vlissingen, The Netherlands
