S/Sgt John T. Stocker graduated from Sacred Heart High School.His father died when he was very small and he was reared by his grandparents, the late Thomas and Mrs. Katherine Kelly of Williamstown.
He enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 20 October 1942.
His son died on 13 June 1944 when he was 2 months old.
S/Sgt Stocker was killed when his jeep ran over a landmine.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands on 8 October 1944.
