Sgt Dale W. Overy attended Macomber Vocational High School and was a machine operator apprentice.He enlisted in Toledo, Ohio on 23 November 1943.
The airplane was attacked by ME-262s. It went into a tight spin before the wing tanks exploded and tore the wings off. The fuselage crashed into a shoe factory in Schneverdingen, Germany.
Three crew members survived and were taken prisoner. Nine men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Schneverdingen.
