Pfc Earl R. Harris Sr. enlisted in Fort McPherson Atlanta, Georgia on 18 May 1944.Earl listed Amelia Island, Florida as home at the time of his enlistment. Prior to the war, been employed in skilled warehousing. He had an eight-grade education. In the Florida State Census 1945, he, although away at war, was enumerated with his parents. His wife and infant son were in the household too. He was with L Company of the 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Infantry Division, which was also known as the ´Lightening´.
Pfc Earl R. Harris Sr. was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery Henri-Chapelle, Belgium Block G-4, Row 4, Grave 68.
