1st Lt Ray S. Musselman joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on 16 May 1942.

He attended 2 years of college and was an architect. While a student at the college, Ray Musselman was a member of the varsity football squads and a member of Phi Gamma Delta.

The sitation for his Silver Star stated:
"The War Department announced November 16 that the Silver Star has been awarded posthumously to First Lieutenant Ray S. Musselman, '44, of Norristown, former Gettysburg College athlete who was killed in action March 3 in Europe. The citation accompanying the Silver Star discloses that the lieutenant was killed by snipers while engaged in mopping up operations in Germany. However, before being hit, he destroyed two enemy machineguns by crawling within 25 yards of them and throwing hand grenades into the positions."

1st Lt Ray S. Musselman was first buried at Block XXX, Row 8, Grave 141.
